Found out about this book through the JRE, really enjoying Dr Debra's pod as well. I did find that the book was a little difficult to follow - she does repeat that you can back up almost every argument with science, and that's what she does, but it gives a snake eating its own tail vibe while reading.
Really enjoyed all the information and sources she offered, would highly recommend 👍🏻

While I don’t agree with Soh on every issue she presented, I found this to be a fascinating read. I admire the way Soh was committed to finding the truth about these hot button issues. She was willing to change her long held beliefs when confronted with previously unknown scientific research, even though those findings are unpopular in this day and age. Ultimately, she was willing to pay the price to “live not by lies” and left/was forced to leave the scientific community due to her change in beliefs. Throughout the book, she was not only logical in her arguments, but also compassionate in the way she presented them. Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey has been my favorite book I’ve read so far about gender and sexuality because it is coming from a Biblical worldview, but I think this book is definitely worth reading.

Just no. Trying to be okay with trans individual while being very dismissive. Viewing that trans kids should not do is shit at best. If cis kids can decide to be cis then a trans child who has gone through therapy should be able to transition for their mental health. I mean really. Just a trash book tries to show the other viewpoint but all it does it comes to be is transphobic.

This book was very well written and presents an idea contrary to what we see in the general public eye and the news media. It is a good resource to get a different perspective on things.

I thought this book was going to something completely opposite of what it is. Transphobia disguised as “science”. Couldn’t finish…

Thanks, I hate it. Way more conservative in her views than I expected. I learned some good things and useful ideas to explore, but she sounds like someone who needs attention. I believe Soh contradicts herself and argues for ideas using the same methods she demonizes.

Don’t read this. I’d estimate 1/10 of this book is her complaining about how she’s faced discrimination since she began sharing her TERF-lite ideas.
