Elizabeth Zot is my new role model! Her confidence is inspiring! What an excellent story. I wonder if women like this really existed back then. Who cares. The story was lively, engaging and I love it when authors personify the animals. A *must* read for 2023 !

"Whenever you start doubting yourself, whenever you feel afraid, just remember. Courage is the root of change—and change is what we're chemically designed to do"

"Men and women are both human beings. And as humans, we’re by-products of our upbringings, victims of our lackluster educational systems, and choosers of our behaviours."

I love love loved this book.

Chemistry & life all rolled up together plus cookery ❤️

Calvin was Autistic & I suspect Elizabeth probably was too. Which is why they worked well together.

I have never understood why people cant cook. Because its just science.  Weighing, measuring then carrying out instructions & chemistry makes it work. So for me this book was just perfection 👌 ❤️
funny inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

Having come from the show and discovering it was based on a book, the book definitely entertains. The insight from Six Thirty, Calvin sharing things with Elizabeth, the more intense horrific assaults were marked differences that added details to the show, which was mostly a good homage. It lacked the exploration of the Civil Rights movement of the show, but all in all, was a quick and addicting read.
