I have become obsessed with the Golden State Killer. This was such an interesting look into how they profiled him from beginning to end. You know I love a good FBI Profiler! I also loved seeing how they used genetics and ancestry to find him!

CW: grief and loss, and descriptions of crimes, including murder, rape, rape of a child, and burglary
What a book. If you do audiobooks, this is one that I'll 100% recommend. It details the story of finding the Golden State Killer, including interviews with the survivors and detectives. It's amazing. While it doesn't go into the complete minutiae of data -- for that, I highly recommend the five part podcast series that Casefile produced that's about him using EAR-ONS (East Area Rapist-Original Night Stalker) to describe him -- I thought that this really gave me a full picture of what happened to catch him. It's a story that's still evolving and I can't wait to see how it ends up.

a great listen for any true crime lover, and a must listen for anyone interested in the golden state killer case. this paired so well with i’ll be gone in the dark, and my fears that she would be swept aside in this were not confirmed. she was mentioned glowingly and her importance to the case, as well as carol daly’s and the female victims, was not undermined.
thank god for paul holes and the amazing police and detectives that do their cases and their victims justice.

I listened to this podcast while falling asleep for so many nights that it caused me to mentally identify the word Sacramento as something deeply foreign. Also maybe the word murder.
It’s tabloid journalism, made by cops, and while it has some compelling talking heads it pales in comparison to I’ll Be Gone in the Dark.
