It took me a while to work through this book, and though enjoyable, I couldn't find anything to bond with the main characters.

Keep the glossary or jisho.org (Japanese dictionary site) nearby, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Japanese culture and folklore. The translation keeps a lot of Japanese words and references in that add humor and context.
Though intriguing in concept, I had mixed feelings about this book. You will feel like you’re reading the same words (often literally the same paragraphs repeated again each chapter) and have to play “spot the difference” until a later chapter makes a reference that makes you go “ohh this scene is different now.” Yet somehow all the little details appear in each universe, for better or worse.
Really makes you think about how fate ties everything together and how much or how little everyday choices change your life. It was fun. Where else could I have laughed out loud at the main character breaking the fourth wall and threatening to cook the reader like instant cup noodles?
