a fun romp through the mind of a misanthrope, the comparisons to catcher in the rye come easy but i’m not sure they’re quite applicable beyond the surface. the elements of light fantasy help expound upon the locations and characters, both of which feel real in a sense that’s hard to describe considering said fantasy.

it’s light and breezy, while also oddly contemplative, even if those contemplations remain limited to the kind of a twenty year old loser. perfect way to break out of my hard stuck reading slump!

It took a while for me to get used to the writing style, but after reading a couple translated Japanese novels, I’m understanding that there’s a particular cadence. The character was fun and the twist was intriguing.
