This book is the blueprint on how you write an exciting and emotionally impactful third book in a series. It was so rewarding to see all of the plot lines from the very first book brought to a head in this one, leaving just enough room for an energy shift as we head into the last 3 books of this arc. The battles, the deaths, the shocking revelations, the heartbreak had me hooked from the first page. I so excited to see what will happen now that the Thunderclan dynamics have changed forever.

This one was a rollercoaster! So much happened and I was literally captivated the entire time. Fireheart was much more likeable in this book than in Fire and Ice.

For a middle-grade book, there is actually so much violence, gore, and death, as well as some incredibly sad scenes. How did I read these when I was ten?!?!?

Once again, I noticed that this book needed a more detailed edit as there were some spelling and grammar issues. Although, I know that the authors who make up Erin Hunter were pushing out like three of these books a year (minimum), so it’s natural that they’d be somewhat rushed. There was also a lot of detailed recapping of what happened in the previous book, which felt unnecessary because surely we can trust the readers (although many are probably children) to remember what has already happened.

(**Spoilers below**)

Bluestar becoming really old and losing her ability to make decisions for the Clan is upsetting! I’m so glad Whitestorm was supportive of Fireheart as deputy, though. I love Whitestorm!!!

*"And as for you..." he hissed. "Keep your eyes open, Fireheart. Keep your ears pricked. Keep looking behind you. Because one day I'll find you, and then you'll be crowfood."

"You're crowfood now," Fireheart retorted, struggling to hide the fear that crawled along his spine.*

UGHHH, I read this series when I was growing up and this line. This confrontation sent shivers down my spine and I will never forget this part. So. Good. This is my favorite book of the whole saga that I've read.

4,5 stjärnor. Svek, förräderi och död. Tredje boken i Warriors serien.

This is probably the best book (with the fifth) in the original series. The tension is well built and twists are surprising, and still very thrilling to read several times over. It's also refreshing to see the antagonist of the first two books (and this whole series) finally get kicked out of the clan.
