It's good to be back,  it's like coming home. I haven't read this arc in its entirety since elementary school. I'm back into reading and this is a good,  gentle way to ease back into it. I've hovered in the fandom for over a decade and it's time to remedy that.

Bluestar is my favorite right now. She's tough but fair,  kind but not a pushover, commanding and graceful. Seemingly unflappable... until she's not. I'm so excited to keep going,  I haven't read in over a year and a half and I devoured this in a few days!!!

I'm pretty sure this book marked the end of my reading the Warriors series. I found the writing just a tiny bit too elementary for true enjoyment, and the subject matter slightly distasteful. I was able to suspend my disbelief long enough to get through this third book, but my thoughts toward cats tend too much toward the pragmatic to love these stories. I think maybe when I was younger I would have enjoyed more the tales of a safe, protected kitten who chooses a life of dangerous freedom over the surety of long life and food every day.

The ending of this book was absolutely tear jerking. When Graystripe left ThunderClan and most importantly, Fireheart, his friend since the beginning, to be with his kits in RiverClan... I just couldn't. I was so happy for Fireheart to be rid of so many of his problems though, even if they did end tragically and with him now having to sleep with one eye open. Great book and super intense, the beginning may have been a little slow but once you get to the middle, it's practically impossible to put the book down.

Things come to a head with Tigerclaw.

Not sure how this series is rated as YA.....it would have been very upsetting to read were i still a youngster.

Feline world building. It's so good that I found myself thinking of my dinner as fresh-kill and my my warm, cozy bed as my nest.
