The concept is interesting, but it's like it was written by a teenager and never edited. There are incongruences and the relationships between characters are ridiculous. I won't be continuing the series.

The constant spoonfeeding of information to Cheyenne really got on my nerves. In the end, I didn't like any of the guys, and felt really bad for Cheyenne.

this was agony

Real rating: 3.5 stars

I don't know where to begin with this book. I started reading it because I was bored with another book that was moving too slow for my liking. Cheyenne was a welcome change, and I didn't move for 2 and a half hours after first cracking it open.

As it went on, there were times I grew extremely annoyed with both Cheyenne, herself, and both Callon and Colt. I did NOT like the way she allowed them to speak to and control her, and I absolutely HATED how weak she seemed whenever her anger just faded away the second one of them looked at her. NORMALLY, I'm a huge hopeless romantic and am all for hot book boyfriends who make you weak in the knees, but I guess my own stubborn personality got in the way this time because I found myself screaming (in my head) for her to stand her ground just once! --> Minus 1 star.

Other than those minor annoyances, I enjoyed learning more about her heritage and enjoyed the small scenes of action. The problem, and the reason I can't give the book 4 stars, is that there's no climax. Don't get me wrong, I love-hate cliffhangers as much as the next girl, but I prefer there be some big event the whole book seems to have led up to. That didn't exist here. Rather, it felt like someone ripped out the end chapters where the real action would have been.

All that said, I want to read those end chapters and see what happens, so for that reason, I'm only taking away half a star. Hopefully something more substantial happens in book 2.

I put off reading this for one reason and one reason only. I did not have time to read a nearly 4000 page book. Finally, I decided to pick it up and see how long it took me to finish. Thank goodness Goodreads was drastically off the mark with its page count!

Cheyenne had a strong beginning, and I was optimistic at first. And then...my expectations went down as the book went along.

You see, the main problem I had with Cheyenne--The main problem that I have with most YA paranormals, and therefore sound like a broken record almost every time I write reviews for such books--is that it wasn't original. The reason I was so optimistic at first is that the idea for the plot actually sounded pretty awesome, but it got quickly became very meh.

For example, the awful love triangle. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good love triangle, but only when it's done the right way, not the sloppy kind. And, while this is not the worst love triangle I've read about (I am looking at you, Elite), it seemed like Cheyenne just could not make up her mind! And honestly, I ended up not caring if she chose Colt or Callon.

The worst part of the love triangle, however, is that it basically took up the better part of the story, and thus, Cheyenne crawled along at a snail's pace. Honestly, this book could have had a lot more happening than it did. What it ended up being was Cheyenne being confused over which guy she liked.

I ended up just trying to remember what the heck the different tribes were called, finding the love triangle tedious, and constantly checking how far I was into this book. However; I am not so sure I would not recommend it. I hate am quite fed up with the YA Paranormal genre right now, but someone who likes this sort of thing? This might be a good book for them. Still, for me this was a two star book.

Nope. DNF.
adventurous lighthearted relaxing fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

It's not bad...really....but....I really hate the way Cheyenne, Colt and Callon's love triangle works. And also all the secret keeping. There really is no point from keeping all those secrets from Cheyenne, she is prepared to accept them and you don't see her running away screaming after the truth has been told. God....this is frustrating.

I really liked this book.
I don't know what I was expecting, but maybe that was a good thing.
But, I need more time to absorb what I've read before I give it a review.

Read the Kindle version.

Did not like the writing. It was repetitive, poor word choice, unrealistic dialogue, and it felt like a child was narrating. Was this self-published?

Did not like the story. The things that happen to the MC was repetitive, and the whole story was boring, predictable, and dragged out for no reason. The romance was also unrealistic and sappy. The MC is the "special" chosen one cliche really kills it. Nothing interesting happens. The whole story revolved around the MC trying to find out why she's so special. Ugh.

Do not recommend.
