I'm pretty sure P. Djèlí Clark can do no wrong when crafting a narrative. Like, damn. I loved this so much. It's short and yet the world and characters are so vividly imagined that by page 20 I was like, yes, I think I know this place, tell me more.
Eveen being undead but holding onto that scrap of humanity without truly realizing it, Sky's understanding of the world and her future changing their dynamic slowly but positively, the solution to the mystery and that ending! Ah!! Also just the Goddesses speaking in a dialect that many would consider to be 'incorrect' and giving them that power of holiness is beautiful. I loved it so much I will recommend this to everyone okay thank you bye.
