(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

I could not stop reading The Dead Cat Tail Assassins. Every day I was looking forward to reading and when you're reading five books at a time, that's an achievement! I loved the world we are dunked into. It's full of assassins, contracts, and immediate intrigue. What I loved is that you have this typical "these are the rules of the world, and now we break one", but you have enough time, enough wonder - and introspection - from the main character to make that rug pull feel believable. I was there with Eveen! The Dead Cat Tail Assassins is full of adventure.

if i have ever thought a book just existed for vibes that would be this book. normally, i would just give it a 3 star if that was the case but this is genuinely the most down the middle 2 1/2 star book.

This book conceptually is amazing. The charecters have cool concepts, very cool setting, very cool magic system. But that is just never exported in a way that is really meaningful. (i for some reason vividly can think of the stupid birds that can’t fly and Eveen just throwing that fucker off the balcony)

I think because we meet so many charecters and have so many fights it all just bleeds together. I can think of all the charecters designs, but i can’t say i know a single thing about any character outside of Eveen or Sky.

I also think that the dialogue in this was just really cheesy. Like “this is what we think badasses sound like” when in reality, it just came off kinda childish or lacking any meaning.

I think if this story was given a bit more world building, A bit more understanding of the world lore or setting. And a bit more space to breathe, inner tween fights to really learn about the complexity’s of each charecter it would be enthralling.

Clark does it again!! Amazing characters, action that just won’t quit, and the most amazing narrator for the audiobook. Seriously one of my favorite writers because of his inventive worlds, compelling and deeply human characters, and the surprising humor that courses through his books. Great read after or before Joe Abercrombie’s The Devils.

I enjoyed this. Nothing like I expected
