This novella was engaging from the first page. The premise was promising and the execution lived up to the promise. P. Djeli Clark is a master at world-building. His characters are well fleshed out and feel three dimensional. The plot arcs for the various characters are satisfying. The pacing was taut, exac ly what you want when the entire plot takes place over the course of a single night. Overall a great read and one I will be recommending.

This is fun but not particularly great. The ideas in it are really cool but the characters didn’t feel super complete. The ending felt too perfect in a weird way. It’s hard for me to pinpoint why I felt so eh about this book. It just never really connected with me.
I would like to note that the reader for the audiobook I was listening too made some accents so strong that I couldn’t understand the words which was very frustrating.
