I decided to read this after getting hooked on the Netflix series. The book definitely held up to the intrigue of the show and was highly entertaining. I loved reading it and also learning more about my favorite characters as well as where they ended up in the epilogues (I read both the first and second epilogues that luckily were included in my library find of this novel. Thanks public library yet again! ❤️). It answered my questions I had following the series and gave me a sneak preview into where other stories within the series lead. All in all a great first read of Julia Quinn and I am looking forward to the rest of the Bridgerton series

Honestly went into the book having no hope. I’ve heard terrible things about it, but I also thought, if you have a series made after you have to be at least stand able. And stand able she was! Overall, I enjoyed a good few parts of it. There was a little bit of a trope involving what i like to call r/pe. but you know it was 1813 so maybe Julia Quinn just really wanted to put that in her book. 😁 If you want to read the Bridgerton books before watching the show, I honestly don’t think it would be a harrowing task. I mean I know I’ve only read the first one, but it had a lot of good moments. I think it got me out of a bit of a slump.

Great until about half way, when it just fell apart.

Loved the side characters and backstory of the love interest. Loved the initial chemistry of the characters. Hated the unnecessary arguments and lack of communication. Why did Daphne turn into a moron? Why did Simon?

Honestly loved this so much, I haven't read a book this quickly in a while. It had me laughing, crying and screaming. I didn't expect it to be better than the tv show but it really was. I can't wait to read the next one
