I'm very glad I pushed through books four and five to get here. This was a fantastic way to end the series and I am back to really enjoying it as a whole.

When I saw "the end" I want to cry so badly

....and that's a wrap on this series.

"Worlds Collide" is overall a solid finale in my opinion, despite a few hangups-- Alex spends most of the book trapped in curse limbo, Arthur is about as interesting as a block of unseasoned tofu, and the Book Huggers haven't done anything worthy of screentime since book three, for starters. My biggest structural issue is how easily-beaten all of the hyped-up threats were, but at least the defeats themselves were all really fun and uniquely oriented in all the characters' specific abilities. It felt like nearly everyone got at least one chance to shine. Plus, the ending is genuinely really emotional and pretty much perfect for the series' themes and tone. Conner's story, and he and Alex seeing their dad again for a final bit of advice, is drawn straight from the emotional core of Book 1, and it did get me a bit choked-up.

So, that concludes my Land of Stories reread! Honestly, I'm really glad I did this. Obviously reading the series as a near-adult reveals problems that flew over my head as a kid, but overall I think "The Land of Stories," as imperfect as some elements of it are, is a witty, sweet read that's perfect for middle grade and full of nostalgia for me. It was really, really fun getting to breeze through this story again.

Endings are always so bittersweet that I go in bitter and grumbling about how the series is going to end. Fortunately, this ending was sweet and exactly what I wanted for these characters.

I'm sad to see this series go but so, so glad I gave [b:The Wishing Spell|11607446|The Wishing Spell (The Land of Stories, #1)|Chris Colfer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1326920505l/11607446._SX50_.jpg|16550024] a chance back in November.

Who would've known that this series would become one of my most cherished (and underestimated) reads of 2020/2021?
