“I do not believe every problem can be cured with a kitten. I do believe in love. And perhaps love can’t cure every problem, but it makes the wounds heal a bit faster, with fewer scars. I understand why you don’t believe that. How could you, if you’ve never known it yourself? But perhaps you should give it a try. Let someone care for you, Gabriel. It doesn’t have to be me, but—” She broke off. “No. Forget that last. It does have to be me. I’m generous, but I’m not that generous. When it comes to this, I’m not willing to share.”

My absolute favourite in the series - Penny and Gabriel are so perfect and delectable — I adore them with my whole heart. This was insta-love done right and I loved seeing Gabriel's struggle with his newfound wealth and how that effects who he is.

While this book included both love/lust at first sight and a third act breakup, neither of which I’m a fan of, I did really like both Penny and Gabriel. Also Tessa Dare is a banter QUEEN.

This was so good. I read it in under 24 hours! I loved the tropes it had but also that it didn’t rely on them too much. I loved the cameos and characters from other books. The conflicts felt realistic and in-character. The fmc’s conflict that is revealed made sense and hit me emotionally.
it reminded me very much of should’ve, could’ve, would’ve😢
My only issue is that I felt the fmc forgave the mmc too fast at the end but to be fair he did work for it.

This book seems like it should have an illustrated cover. I LOVED IT SO MUCH HOLY SHIT??!!

I've never, ever picked up historical romances. Historical fiction in general is not my cup of tea. HOWEVER. If you drop a novel with two gorgeous leads with hearts of gold and ANIMALS??? I have been won over.

The fact that Penny is the definition of a strong, independent woman while also representing her "times" is so amazing.

The only thing I didn't quite like is how quickly the romance bloomed in Gabriel's point of view. One chapter, he was thirsting over her physically (valid) and the next, he was head over heels. It honestly gave me whiplash and took away a little of the magic from the development of their relationship

Nevertheless, I loved it and enjoyed it and I am definitely picking up more of Tessa Dare's novels.

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶
SO GOOD. Classic sex scenes, a mirror scene *wiggles eyebrows* and a loooooot of slow burn.

P.S.: my spice ratings are a new thing and I am mainly rating off of ✨vibes✨ and don't have an actual scale.
