3.5 stars, really! A fun and interesting history of textiles. Some sections far more interesting than other, some felt belabored. I’m reading three books right now and this is the one I kept coming back to so that’s gotta be good.

Fascinating trip around the globe and through time to see how the development of specific fabrics changed civilizations, cultures, and commerce.

Brilliant delivery of so much incredible information - I can't even imagine the amount of research that went into this book!
I particularly loved the last third of the book which covered the wartime production of Rayon, the race for spacesuits & the ever ellusive spider silk - all things I'd never bothered to think about on a deeper level.

I really liked the author's book on color, and I loved The Fabric of Civilization: How Textiles Made the World, but this book didn't quite hook me. I did learn enough to be glad I read it, but I am mostly glad to be done.
