My 11 year old has never been interested in spy novels, and for some reason I have taken that as a challenge. So now I've found a spy series he enjoys and will have to live with the consequences -- I hope they do not include Ian Fleming.
My son is reading this in school and wanted me to read it too. It’s not too bad, and it’s fun that we can talk about it together (once his class finishes

I just finished all 3 seasons on Amazon Prime and now I will be rereading all the books up to Scorpia Rising cause that's the last book I read and apparently there are 5 i haven't read. The show was great go watch it. NOW. *cracks knuckles* let's get into the fact that nostalgia can give you rose tinted remembrance but at the same time.... stormbreaker I remember not being the coolest of the lot but I will say I did remember correctly that horowitz is a tight writer. The book was fast paced, well written and concise. I do like Alex as a character. Some stuff is over the top. But generally it is grounded but I wish horowitz had gone for a 16 year old and not a 14 year old as I feel the time Ian had to work to make him a spy would have been more realistic. Hands down complaint is that I kind of forgot how over the top Herod Sayle was as a villian in the since that over the top is a nice way of saying that the characterization of this Egyptian man was a bit..... *cringe borderline not good rep of an ethinicity* (very super nice way of saying that). Nostalgia did in fact shade that bit too rose tinted. That aside. Not bad. A good quick read. Let's see if the rest of the series holds up to my memory.

I read this in school, as did most boys my age at the time. It was the biggest series I can remember, before Hunger Games and everything else hit later on. When in France years later we found the movie in the place we were staying and I was overjoyed as I hadn't managed to see it in the cinema. The credits rolled and we sat there in stunned silence: it was terrible.
The book is not only for the kids as the young adults can easily enjoy it. It contains everything like drama, action, suspense and hate. Alex is the only main character of a novel who I really started loving the very day I started reading it..
