medium-paced

For the audience it is aimed at it is generally well written with decent pace and enough excitement to keep you reading. As a Brit the reference to the M&S tie and all the connotations it brings made me smile. The technology is definitely of its time, which does date it somewhat and I suspect that younger readers would struggle to get some of the references.

Read decades ago, remember basically nothing.
adventurous dark inspiring mysterious sad medium-paced

This is a 3.5 to me. I liked it pretty well, but not enough to read sequels. But reluctant boy readers will be getting this book rec from me a fair amount!
