Excellent book for middle school boys looking for an adventure!! The book had an awesome plot and great writing that makes this a must read series. Can't believe it's taken me this long to read it! It's the Gallagher Girls equivalent for boys.

I read these books when I was in highschool and remembered absolutely loving them. Now at 26 re-reading this and having read much deeper and more sophisticated material I’ve been exposed to how juvenile the story is. Pretty unbelievable events, but for a younger audience, it’s acceptable.
Alex was a lot more 2-dimensional than I remember, but all-in-all a likable and relatable character. A fun, entertaining read, and (having been a massive anti-reader myself for a long time) a great book for those who don’t love reading: short, concise, easy vocabulary, relatable setting.
Now I want to read the others again. I think either the third or fourth book was my favorite, but I don’t remember. (I hated scorpia, which is ironic since that seems to be the favorite of most Rider fans haha).

I still wish I was a spy. And Alex Rider is waaay more mature than I was at 14.
Ya know I'm marking this as a reread but I'm not 100% positive I read this. I may have just watched the movie a million times.

The pacing is a little off at the beginning of the book. I thought it was a little weird that Alex didn't show a lot of emotion after his uncle (effectively his father figure) died.
On the other hand, the action starts almost immediately and the pacing gets better once you're used to it. If you don't like intros, this book is for you.
