Lots of thoughts
Firstly, I think I had really high expectations for this because of If This Gets Out and it wasn't as good so three stars (still a good book tho)
- I feel like there were too many characters and there's not too much depth to them (like I don't think I could tell you a lot about them, especially the band)
- I did like the news articles in between because it shows the parallel or real world and what the media says and makes you think a lot
- I like how much emphasis on racism and trying to do good there was with calling stuff out. Definitely got me thinking more and pay attention to stuff
- The pressures Hunter feels are definitely familiar (in a way - I'm not famous but still)
- Ending spoiler: I feel like Hunter should have just been single for a bit at the end but that's just something personal

It's hard to fault a book for being realistic but I had a hard time reading this book because of the way the media and adults reacted and treated Hunter. It's exactly what would happen in real life but it's horrible and upsetting.
I loved Hunter to pieces; he's incredibly well developed and so sympathetic. I wanted to know more about the characters and I didn't really get the romance.

I liked this book, I would recommend it to young adults. I would not have read this book if I did not love Adib's Darrius books so much. Those are young adult books as well but I enjoy them.
This is no Darius, but Khorram still does a great job of creating a main characters that I feel so much for. However, I found the romantic lead/relationship in this story lacking chemistry.
Another wise and adorable book from Adib. Review soon!

I really wanted to like this because the premise is EVERYTHING i love… especially when I picked it up just days after Liam…
but it missed the mark a bit for me.
One of my major pet peeves in a book is when the MC is, or is at least expected to be, too forgiving. This one was both expected and actually too forgiving. Having to read about someone doing him SO DIRTY, and yet he just is expected to get over it and move on… that’s just not realistic and not likable imo. I would not like a person irl that’s THAT easy to steam roll over. like stand up for yourself and cut these bitches out of your life !!!
I also had issue with the romantic interest. he was repeatedly rude and dismissive to the MC and in prior interviews and hardly even apologizes? he was NOT good enough for the MC and i kept waiting for everyone to realize it but then we end up together??? no no no
this was a cool idea but i didn’t like the execution sadly :(
