Amazing. Just beautifully written and so effective. Sad and depressing while also being so creepy and horrifying. I will be thinking about this a lot.

What an amazing read. I couldn’t put the book down when I first read it. If this book was made into a movie it would be produced by a24

After Thiago lost his wife, Vera, in an accident that became greatly politicized by the public and the media, his life fell apart. He's now been left alone in a house that they believed to be almost haunted with all its strange occurrences. But these occurrences don't seem to have let up after her death, or even after he moves.
This was such a compelling horror story. There's nothing I love more than a deeply thematic horror, and this one tackles overwhelming grief, particularly when it has been taken away from you and pushed into the public eye. Thiago was a great protagonist to follow as he's heavily struggling with the loss of his wife. He's lost what tethered him, and now is being shoved into a situation without logical explanation, further exacerbating his sense of unease. Upsetting and strange with an ending that makes you want to close your eyes or look away, this is definitely a horror that I would recommend widely to those who can handle the trigger warnings.
Overall, I was very pleased with this debut and definitely would pick up future titles from Moreno. I would most recommend this book to fans of Pet Sematary as it has similar themes of grief!
