Loved this. Im assuming the interpretation is pretty wide. Lots of stuffs can be said here, but I'm going with husband going mad over grieving his deceased wife, accompanied with all the other losses surrounding him in his life. Though that could leave the old lady as a very big plot hole. But how Im going about with this is the fact that a big deal of the story is not meant to be understood or 'mean' something. Like what Thiago himself was desperate to find. The meaning of it all

This was a wild ride. I'm going to be digesting this one for quite some time. The writing is excellent and the treatment of grief is really thoughtful and nuanced. The surrealism introduced especially towards the end puts me in mind of Master and Margarita, in that it is an onion: you can keep pulling back layers forever and still never reach the center.

This book was so unique. The first third was very sad. Not much going on, but sad. It is about the main character grieving his wife who recently died in a freak accident. The rest of the book starts to twist into a horror story with random things like a haunted Alexa or a Cujo dog. I interpreted these random events as a metaphor for grief. But that’s what’s so cool about this book, it is open to interpretation.

I mean…WOW. This book was something else. A whole different genre from any other book. This book has a genre and it is Gus Moreno. It was a fever dream and a half. The feel of grief and going through it with the main character was heartbreaking. There were multiple times I felt like I was grieving a woman I’ve never met. I can not describe how unbelievably good this was. If I had to pick one thing that I didn’t enjoy about this book would be the frequent repeated sentences. Other than that, I hope that wherever Thiago is…he’s happy.
