Finding one quote to include in this review would be pointless as I would end up quoting the entire book. It was so informative, well written and researched; it has truly opened my eyes to the reality of the prison system in the US. Davis’ use of case studies truly demonstrates the long history of race, class and sex in the prison system and how the it has spread to other countries. Truly worth the read!

I listened to the audiobook, but I feel like I would have liked it more as a physical book.

I had to read this for school. It was a very informative deep dive into the history of the Prison Industrial Complex in America. Very interesting, but it could be more detailed in some areas. I recommend it to people who want to become more informed about the prison system and why it is rotten to the core.

At this point anything Davis puts out is a required reading for me.
