Quick and eye opening

An approachable and quick read that should make many question why we so easily accept “crime and punishment” as normal, and start thinking about why the prison population has grown enormously while crime has dropped.

The ultimate primer on prison abolition. Goes through a lot of the history and makes clear arguments on how it's beyond repair. I wish the last chapter on alternatives was longer but it mentions plenty of starting points for further reading (restorative justice, free voluntary rehab, decriminalization, etc)
