A good listen. Kept me quite interested during my commute.

This was my second Alex Cooper read, will be my last. The characters are really one dimensional and I find the involvement of the lead character in the investigation quite strange and also mostly pointless. If the author wanted her to be so involved she should have made her a detective because there in no way prosecutors run around on the ground like this.

An easy read - read it in about 3 days. A simple mystery, predictable. The book gave lots of history on the subway system and the system used for bringing potable water into the city - that was the best part of the book and made reading it worth it.

I just wasn't that into this book - it didn't have any really exciting, edgy parts like I expect from this author, there were a few overdone descriptions and unrealistic conversations, and the Jeopardy thing is really starting to feel overdone - c'mon, they're really together near a TV at Jeopardy time THAT often? [return]However, I definitely recommend some of Fairstein's earlier titles in this series - maybe she's just getting tired of doing this same thing and needs to break free and start a fresh series?

It was alright. I mean not terribly mind blowing. I listened to it as an audio book and it passed the time on drives.

Really interesting concept, exploring the underground, the deep underground, of Manhattan and throwing murder in the mix. It's logical that the island would need water, but it never occurred to me how they got it. A good addition to the series. Glad I picked this series back up. I'm interested to see what happens with Alexandra (Alex) and Luc and/or Alex and Mike. There's been a thing between them since the first book, more than just their friendship, still seeing if it will develop any further.

Somehow the author's name got tied up with the author I was actually searching for. I was unfamiliar with that combination, so I snagged it. Turns out it was a computer mistake, as this is a stand alone book in a long series by Fairstein. Read it anyway. A little interesting DNA quirk, the kind that even Ann Cornwell loves, was the only slightly unique aspect to this tiresome slog.

I liked the combination of courtroom and real life in new york, the tunnels. The sexist remarks of alex's colleagues/friends annoyed me, i could not imagine a new york woman accept that.
