DID NOT FINISH: 25%

too fast for my taste

It was everything my first gen x Bollywood addict x smut addict heart needed.

Maybe a biased rating cause I’m really missing my Punjabi boy :(

Enjoyed it but was confused. The main characters are described numerous times as being Sikh, but didn't follow the Sikh religious custom of wearing turbans/head scarves, and they drank alcohol heavily.

The cover sold me. Loved both lead characters as strong, say what they mean, good banter, and little internal monologues.

Main tuhadi sari zindagi nu pyar karan di udika kara riha hum.

BRB crying because I know for a fact that desi guys IRL don't hold a candle to Hemdeep Singh.

Also Mina is such a baddie omg I want to be her friend so bad.

The hero just didn’t work for me. That’s really the main thing. Over and over again the heroine would say no to something and the author always treated her saying no as like... a fake thing? A joke? That bothered me so much.

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 4/11/19.

My first book from [a:Nisha Sharma|3003728|Nisha Sharma|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1429099381p2/3003728.jpg], but definitely not my last!

I admit that some of the corporate espionage/takeover details sailed right past me, but even so, this one kept me on the edge of my seat. Not only did I need to find out how Mina and Hem were going to find their way to an HEA (and find an HEA they must!) but I really needed to find out how everything could work out for their respective companies and hopes for the future. Ms. Sharmi did a great job at giving you subtle hints at what is really going on (and might happen in the future--Ajay mistakenly thinking Raj is a man has got to play a role later, right?!?) without making everything completely obvious. She definitely gave me a reason to keep turning the pages!

How soon will book 2 in the series be out? (Answer: not soon enough...)

Rating: 4 stars / A-

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Hemdeep Singh and his brothers' legacy, their father's company Bharat, Inc., is under threat of an outsider takeover. While Hem had left the company to forge his own way, he is compelled to return home and team up with his brothers to ensure the company stays under family control.

Hem is only home from business, still smarting from the ending of his relationship with a white woman he thought was his forever. But Hem didn't truly know what forever meant until he sees Mina Kohli in the Bharat boardroom.

Mina herself is struggling between honoring her mother's legacy and law firm, even if it means she may need to agree to an arranged marriage. She doesn't have time for Hem, even if she's rapidly falling for the delicious man who's Punjabi heritage and business morals are a perfect match for her own.

But the heart wants what the heart wants, and these two forge an alliance to do what is right for both them and their values, even if it means maybe losing what they thought was most dear to them, their businesses.

A super debut from an author to watch! If you enjoy non-angsty romances with an emphasis on the career intrigue, this is one for you! What I missed a bit from this story was tension between Hem and Mina. I was hoping for a little fight between them before succumbing to their HEA. Their isn't a lot of tension in their romance, and most of the drama is about the business. There is also a lot of setup, so I'm very optimistic this author will grow as the series continues!

Thank you to Avon for the ARC!

I've always been a sucker for the billionaire/CEO trope but have found the genre extremely lacking when it comes to diversity. When I saw the author Lillian Lark recommend the second book to this series ( The Legal Affair ) and mentioned the author had wanted to write about brown billionaires...I knew I needed to get my hands on these books!

So many billionaire romances I've seen and read, have mostly white characters and the love interests are usually nowhere close to being in the same social circles. Finding The Singh Family trilogy was exciting because we have two people who, on their own, are both powerful and successful!

Hem, our leading man, is the oldest of the Singh brothers. After a disagreement with his father, a few years ago, Hem left the family business to strike out on his own and start his own empire.

Mina's mom raised her two younger brothers and build an empire (law firm) of her own. The law firm was taken from her mother when Mina was young, and the same day her mother died in a car accident. From that point on Mina would work hard to be successful and win her mother's empire back from her scheming uncles.

I love the instant attraction between Mina and Hem. Not only do they find each other physically attractive but they're both attracted to each other's intelligence, drive, and success. Who wouldn't be attracted to someone who knows what they want and will take the necessary steps to get it?

Overall I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and I look forward to seeing the other Singh brothers meet their matches and fall in love!
