"I thought I lost you.” I breathe her in. “Never,” she whispers. “Not until the sun casts its last ray and the moon bids the sky farewell."
This was fun!
Gladiator themed fantasy books always get me pumped.
I enjoyed the creativity of the games (some of them were down right brutal man), I enjoyed the characters and relationships that were created.
I also really liked having our MC be a man! I haven't read a fantasy book from a male pov in a hot minute. So this was a nice change of pace.
I felt sometimes the...well I don't know how to really explain it, but the way the author worded or phrases certain events or plot points for characters felt weird to me. I don't know, like I would have to reread paragraphs sometimes to figure things out.
Entertaining, violent, emotional, and thrilling! A good introduction into the Old Erth universe.

I loved this book! I read most of it in my 10 hour car ride to gencon (one way).

This was a Rollercoaster of a read. It was so good. The characters are amazing and really make you feel. I would recommend this book if you like fantasy books, that have good world building.

This was probably one of the best male character driven books I’ve read like ever. Leif was such an interesting character and there were scenes that just gutted me!
4 Stars
I enjoyed this book a great deal. I loved that the main POV was the MFC and Lucas Webley did it justice on every level. Typical gladiator style plot with some nice twists that were predictable but enjoyable. Finally, a story without an absolute cliffhanger of an ending. I am looking forward to the next book.
