I was really expecting this poetry collection to be an ode to nature but it instead displayed how gruesome the natural world and farming life can be. I think my favourite poem was “Twice Shy”.

Taken together you see how concerned he was early on with histories of person and place and the vividness of spaces where those intertwine.

this is the collection that really got me back into annotating my books like i used to at school. so much underlining, so many little notes, so many lovely poems!
