This is the first in a series so it establishes the world and characters. The main MC and FC are well matched and this book establishes their connection without much physicality.

I started out really liking it, and it ended with me skimming the last 50 to 40%. It was just sooooooo slow, and sometimes the slow, sloooooow scenes were explained twice, but from a different point of view in a new chapter. I really don’t need to read two chapters about how the FMC gets dressed. Seriously, there was no reason for this scene. She just got dressed. That’s all. No plot. No yearning. No action. Just. Getting. Dressed.
TWICE.
I had to read about that shit twice.

I loved the writing, it's just so beautiful and complicated enough to challenge my English and it's just so refreshing after the many slangish English books I read. The story is really good and has a kind of big twist near the end and is tense at the end and it has a very well built world for the story.

This book was fine somewhere between a 2.5-3. Slow moving, which it’s advertised as. A lot more questions than answers. I was willing to delve into the next book anyway but a reviewer mentioned that the TW for book 2 is not strong enough and that a hardcore sexual assault takes place. With that it mind, I won’t be continuing the series.

I read this book in one evening - I just really wanted to know what happened next! It’s a slow burn, easy-to-follow romance with some interesting little tweaks to more traditional mythological stereotypes. I really enjoyed reading this story from two differing points of view and, given its ending, I’ll be looking to pick up the sequel.
