I know when I read a single dad/nanny romance, it's only going to end one way. It's about the journey. This journey was good, but it didn't set me on fire. I felt bored periodically throughout the book.

”Having their approval will mean nothing if you lose your own happiness in the process.”

sighhh. i was very excited to read daddy p’s book, because hello? single parent, nanny trope? i am so bummed to give this book rating lower than four stars, but oh well. what can you do when the book doesn’t meet your expectations. maybe i’ve become more judgemental. who knows anymore?!

”Do you have a moment to talk about the week ahead?” “You can have me all night, if you want.”

i am not sure how i feel about them. there were too many questionable scenes with them. i liked them both, some parts were really wholesome and thoughtfull, but some scenes gave me ✨the ick✨. i am okay with him still loving his late wife and still caring for her, but comparing them? and some sex scenes or rather their inner thoughts were cringey.

”She didn’t have to say a word for me to understand those tears weren’t from laughing too hard.”

chloe was raised in single independent women household and she had some big trust issues because of that, which followed her throughout the most part of the book. i am glad she stood up to them at the end, but if it were me i would’ve told them long time ago to just ✨back off✨ little bit.

“Stop fucking apologizing.” “Then stop looking at me like I need to apologize.” “Is that how you think I look at you?”

listen, i am all for broody, grumpy and reserved mmc, but how is it humanly possible for a person to never smile? not even like, with his daughter? i know this is fiction but come on.

Another amazing book by Kandi Steiner! 🤭 This books was one of my most anticipated reads of 2024, and it did not disappoint!

Some of my highlights of the book:
💚 DADDY P!! 😫❤️ I loved Will SO MUCH, more than I thought I would! I was already really intrigued by him from the last two books, but I loved being able to get in his head and to finally read his story! He’s such a grump but he’s perfect! I loved seeing him be such a great dad to Ava!
💚 The tropes in this book were absolutely amazing! I don’t know what it is about the single dad/ nanny trope, but it’s so good and I really enjoyed it in this book! The grumpy/sunshine and forced proximity were also so well done and added so much to the story!
💚I LOVED the “spicy lessons” that were taught, especially as I love the spice that Kandi brings to her books! That popsicle scene will love in my brain rent free from now on 🤭
💚 I loved our FMC Chloe! She was such a great sunshine character, and I loved seeing her slowly gain confidence in herself! I love how she was unapologetically herself, but I also loved watching her grow and gain friends throughout the book!
💚 The relationship between Ava and Chloe was so cute!! I loved their relationship, and I love how much Chloe got Ava to open up and the love they have for one another!
💚 I really enjoyed the flow of this book and how the plot progressed! I feel like we learned about the characters well and it helped make their relationship and everything they went through very believable and sweet. This was a good slow burn romance, but very worth it!!

Overall, this was such a wonderful sport romance that was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy! 🤭 If you’re looking for a fun sport romance with amazing characters, spicy lessons, and just has an overall great vibe, this is definitely the book for you!

This was heading towards a solid 4⭐️, but quite honestly it just dragged on wayyyy too long. And the MMC’s complete inability to communicate and actively hurting the FMC over and over, but continuing to act that way knowing he’s hurting her, just made this so un-romantic. Like it literally takes until almost 90% for him to actually be nice to her, and that was just too long—I was literally not even rooting for them to be together by the end!

5⭐️/ 4-5🌶️

OMG! THE BOOK I HAVE EAGERLY WAITING FOR! DADDY P! YASSSSSS! Single Dad/ Nanny trope, hockey romance, found family, and so much more! KANDI STEINER YOU ARE SPOILING ME! THANK YOU! Daddy P a.k.a. Will Perry didn’t have the best luck locking down a nanny for his five year old daughter, and when things started to look glum, in came Chloe, his daughter’s teacher and now also nanny! Chloe was a lovely, wonderful, kind person, and the perfect person to care for Daddy P’s daughter. With a boss/ employee dynamic, forced proximity since Chloe was living in Daddy P’s pool house, and essentially spending plenty of time together, it was the perfect recipe for a steamy, entertaining, and loving romance to blossom between Daddy P and Chloe.

So, just out of curiosity…WHERE DO I SIGN UP TO BECOME A NANNY FOR DADDY P?!?!  Will needed all the help he could get when it came to caring for his equally stoic and grumpy child, Ava. When yet another nanny failed the task of caring for Ava, Chloe came to the save the day by offering to take care of Ava, which in hindsight actually worked out perfectly. Right away, I really liked Chloe as a character, but also the way she was so in tune with Ava’s needs, and genuinely cared for her. Compared to the other previous Nannie’s who had ulterior motives of trying to get with Will, Chloe’s sole focus was on Ava, and ensuring she was taken care of at all times. I honestly admired Chloe’s initiative when it came to how she worked with children especially with Ava. I could tell Kandi put a lot of thought into Chloe’s character and it truly showed throughout the story. I instantly cared for Chloe and funny enough I found myself relating to her a lot! Chloe was also a fellow book lover, and was a homebody!

There was just something special and heartwarming seeing Will (Daddy P), Ava, and Chloe when they were together. From seeing Will be such a gentle, caring dad to Ava, it was not only sweet, but also highlighted how much he was a great dad.  Even seeing how much Chloe had brought a sense of happiness to Ava’s life therefore made Will happy. There were plenty of sweet moments in this book from Chloe making Ava her very own hockey jersey, to the way Chloe helped Ava ask Will to go to Donuts with Dad day at school, and especially seeing Will’s reactions to all the kindhearted things Chloe did for Ava was amazing! Everything was so endearing and despite Will and Ava normally being a grumpy pair, the father and daughter duo quickly changed their attitude with Chloe brightening their days!

I feel like with each book in this series, the books grow more increasingly heartfelt and tug on my heartstrings especially in this book. With the loss of his wife and the mother to his daughter, Will was always trying to be the best dad he could to Ava. Throughout the story, my heart went out to Will because, I started to see how much he tried to maintain this “perfection” in his career and his job as a dad, but not everything goes according to plan. In addition, seeing the vulnerability that Will kept locked up tight inside truly revealed that this strong, hulk of a man was actually still coming to terms with being a single dad, and the grief of his wife. While the loss of someone never truly goes away, for Will losing his wife also meant he lost his best friend so, to now see him start to open himself up to the possibility of something with Chloe was exciting and heartwarming. (Sigh) there was a fair amount of times I just wanted to jump into this book, and give Will the biggest hug ever!

From Chloe becoming a nanny to a NHL goalie’s daughter, spicy lessons with said hockey player, an adorable little girl, found family, and character growth in Will, this was my favorite out of the “Kings of the Ice” series! I had a feeling Will was going to be the man for me, and oh boy did Kandi do an amazing job bringing Will and Chloe’s romance to life! I genuinely loved seeing Will’s character growth throughout the book because, for a man who was so use to being grumpy, not saying much, he eventually found his way to voicing his feelings, being more present in his life, and finding his way back to genuine happiness and love. Chloe was a sunshine through and through, and I could see all the ways she not only helped Will, but also brought a loving warmth to caring for Ava. The spicy lessons were definitely a hot part of the story, and once again, Kandi wrote some intriguing, steamy moments that left me rereading a couple of times! Omg! I felt like with this book in particular I was more emotional when it came to Will, Chloe, and Ava in how there was some really sweet moments that tugged on my heartstrings. In addition, the romance especially the moment when Will told Chloe exactly how he felt about her really signified the depth of their love. I throughly loved the way this book ended from seeing the found family, loving moments in Vince and Maven’s wedding, and with the second epilogue setting up Aleks’s story which I cannot wait to read! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
