I've really liked this series and it just keeps getting better! There's just something about hockey romance for me. This one was definitely fun, steamy, and heartfelt.
Chloe and Will are my favorite MCs so far in this series.
Their chemistry was so good and the tension and angst went crazy y'all! I'm a sucker for a broody man with a heart of gold, what can I say?
Will's journey was so well done. He found so much healing and belonging with Chloe and was able to let his walls down to accept love again and show up for himself and his daughter. He really had to deal with his impulse to shut down and run from his grief and fears because, after falling for Chloe, he couldn't help but let his love and devotion to his family win out and make him better (though he shut down one too many times and I lowkey wanted to shake him lol). I found his struggle to let himself feel and be open believable after the pain he had endured.
Chloe felt so real, like yes girl, I also love a night in and cats and tea and hot, devoted, grumpy men. She gained confidence and belonging, and went after what she wanted while staying true to herself. She's an independent baddie, but that didn't mean she couldn't have love and deep connection with a partner too. She knows herself and that allowed her to be so genuinely open-hearted.
I did think it got a little repetitive in the middle and the ending felt rushed for me. But this didn't keep me from truly enjoying the story. The way Kandi writes just pulls you in, and I just eat it up every time!
