I loved loved loved loved loved loved loved this book so much!!!! WOW!!!
A GREAT romance, a beautiful love story, a PERFECT male protagonist I'm completely in love with this book and Caleb!
Ok first thing first let's talk about the story, Maggie is a 17 years old living with a depressed father, her mother abandoned her and her boyfriend broke up with her a year ago. She's not looking forward to the future and feel responsible toward her depressed father. On her way to a party she meets Caleb and something special happened to both of them, they are soul mate and "imprinted" each other. And here begins her incredible adventure, the discovery of supernatural beings and a new world.
Caleb is to die for, I mean the guy is perfect and it was so nice to see someone care so much about Maggie.
Maggie on the other hand was a bit annoying at times but her love for Caleb is undeniable.
I felt sorry for Kyle (the other male interest) he had absolutely no chance to show his love to Maggie but it was still interesting to see Maggie's reaction around him.
I liked Maggie's father as well as her brother, they where both very protective about her and caring, what a sweet family!
I adore this book, I loved it so much that as soon as I finished Significance I attacked Accordance. This book is definitely going to my favorite shelf! Caleb I love you!

I originally read Significance in December 2011 and fell in love with the story line. Shelly Crane provides the reader with a new, unique take on the paranormal world that has me wanting more.
Let's start with the main characters. Maggie isn't your average seventeen year old girl. She graduated high school early after the worst year of her life; her mother left and her dad has abandoned all responsibility since. She is smart, caring, responsible, and a little naive. It's only by chance that she meets Caleb at a stoplight where he almost gets killed. Caleb is gorgeous, charming, and sweet. He is one of only two guys Maggie has ever been attracted to and no longer does she want to go on her date with his cousin Kyle, especially after the sparks.
I think this is one of only a few books where the insta-love concept works. Caleb is a supernatural being called an Ace. Being an Ace means that there is only one person out there for him, his soul mate. When Caleb and Maggie finally touch, sparks fly. They are the perfect match for each other. A number of young adult books I've read these days try to carry out this concept and I almost always find a flaw in each of the relationships. With Significance, we learn early on that there is a reason for them being head over heels for each other so quickly, it is expected.
The thing I like most about this book is that it is original. I've never read a paranormal book that has this idea of soul mates. Granted Twilight has imprints, but this is nothing like the idea behind Stephenie Meyer's werewolves. It is more like a recognition of the other person. I also like that Maggie isn't whiny. She doesn't sulk over her mom leaving, shes mad at her mom, but not whining about it. She made the best of her situation.
I really enjoyed this book and I don't have much bad to say about it. There are times when Maggie is just explaining things that gets a little old, but it isn't overwhelming to the point it is an annoying quality to the book.
Overall, this is a great addition to any paranormal lovers library. I look forward to reading and reviewing Accordance and Defiance.

Wow i did not expect to like this as much as i did! Very centered around romance, and seemed almost like a mesh of Colleen Hoover and Jennifer Armentrout! Loved the passion, the characters, the realness of their feelings and desires. All in all, a fantastic story and i will be continuing soon!
slow-paced
Strong character development:
No
Loveable characters:
No
Diverse cast of characters:
No
This book needed editing. It was too long and they repeated the same conversation over and over again. The characters did not feel real and their personalities would flip on a dime. The dialogue from side characters was stilted. There is a climax and instead of having a good wind down, it just drags on. Also a little too puritanical for my tastes.
I love this book! It has quickly risen to the ranks of my newest comfort book. I love the soulmate trope and I love the characters and the story. Highly recommend!!
Sadly, I'm DNFing at 28%.
The first two chapters captured my interest and my excitement. The characters are well written and the imprinting scene was extremely well done. However, after that the book fell horribly flat.
All throughout the story I kept getting Twilight vibes (I've never read the books but I've watched the movies). It felt like this may have started out as a Twilight fanfiction before it turned into it's own novel.
The paranormal aspect is very confusing. I'm not sure why it's important, why it exists, and why it should continue existing. Basically, Caleb's family are Aces which are humans with supernatural abilities. They don't call themselves humans though - just aces. They can only gain these abilities after imprinting with their soulmate and ascending.
I won't lie, it seems like a solid start to their paranormal world-building, but that's where it ends.
The family owns a construction company and they keep to themselves so there's nothing to really provoke them into using their powers. Their powers are just there if they need them. It seems like wasted potential. Reminds me of the Cullens who just hang around and play with their abilities whenever they're bored.
Also - if there's no external reason to use their powers then why do they want their powers so bad? Just because it'd be cool? That's what it feels like honestly.
There's no explanation as to where the powers originate or why their bloodline exists. What created the Aces? Where did they come from? There isn't any magical or paranormal elements that could explain why a different species of human exists.
I didn't mind the insta-love but it didn't pan out the way I had hoped. Throughout the chapters it was either Maggie and Caleb gushing over how perfect the other is or hyperventilating because they weren't touching. It became boring after a while.
The plot seemed to be walking around in circles. Even after the first happenings of trouble began, it didn't seem like a world-shattering issue but rather an annoyance. It didn't make me worry for the characters. I felt like I was just waiting for them to be done with this inconvenience already.
I feel like the imprinting would have gone SO much better if they didn't have the insta-love thrown in. They're suddenly aching to be together physically but they don't have feelings yet. They'd have to develop a relationship all on their own while dealing with the imprint's limitations. That would have been very interesting to read.
I don't want to say this book was bad because it's not. The author had a lot of fun writing this and she incorporated a lot of her favorite things in this book. I applaud a queen who writes for herself. However the book just isn't for me. Maybe if I read this 13 years ago I would be completely obsessed with it - but not now.

Not great. Lame version of Twilight. Also, tons of typos or grammar issues. Was it even edited?
