I've been reading children's books to try to gain back some of my old French skills, and many of the books I've tried have been too dated in their language, so they haven't made a lot of sense. This book, however, was perfect!

This was better plot-wise than the other two I've read: at least it followed a day in her life, which made it feel less disjointed. The story she makes up about filling in for all the places in the circus when she is supposed to be telling a "true" story about her vacation is pretty cute.

I liked the variety with the colour--using pink in the circus scenes.

I didn't appreciate the irony or humor on this book. I think it sends the wrong message to children.

Olivia Saves the Circus celebrates the power of a child's imagination. Olivia is suppose to share with her class what she and her family did over vacation. Rather than telling the boring details, she paints a fantastic picture where she is one pig circus.

If you believe Olivia's version she single handedly saved the circus when all the performers were out with ear infections. With that premise in mind, Olivia jumps into her story and takes us along.

Daughter begs for Olivia

Olivia!Olivia! It's nice to have a book that's as fun to read as many times as my daughter demands "read it!"
