Please read the trigger warnings for this book because this is one of those you’re going to need to be aware of. I think what would be the biggest trigger happens off page but it is mentioned and I have a feeling it’s going to be triggering for a lot of people. You should always read your trigger warnings, but this is a dark romance so especially this one.

I always know that this author brings the spice so I wasn’t too worried about that. There is some creative spice and single spice and a blend of spices. It’s well seasoned. If that’s what you like, you will enjoy this.

Let’s start with the story, which was loosely based off Cinderella. Evil stepmom and four hot stepbrothers that she gets with. That’s how the story goes, right? Close enough.

I did enjoy most of the story, however, it did take a little bit to get into the relationship arc. I feel like we were just thrown into this insta-love with minimal background information. There wasn’t really any tension or build up… They just got right into it. I think I would have liked more of that to build that connection between everyone. I also couldn’t figure out any of their ages.

It was easy to empathize with the FMC, she was forced into less than ideal situations and scenarios multiple times. I’m not sure how I feel about her quick turn to revenge but it’s understandable given the circumstances. As for the MMCs, they just kind of showed up. I found that I mixed them up frequently. We are given a description of each and we hear about the personalities, but other than one, the other three kind of molded into one. It didn’t affect the story, but I don’t think I could differentiate during most of the scenes.

If you want a quick dark romance with some similarities to one of the classic fairytales, then this would be a pretty good book for you. There is plenty of spice, darker themes and everything is wrapped up in a little bow at the end. There’s love, betrayal, plenty of action, and sweet little moments too.

Meh. I usually love RH but this one was just ok.

this book filled the smut need through the acotar series which was nice but i think the book could have been a little longer and more developed but the plot twist did add in some interest and plot points i wasn't expecting

This is a dark romance in my favorite way. The boys are protective and controlling but not mean. I really enjoyed the cinderella retelling aspects of it. I will say all the family references were a bit strange and not my favorite.
