Always love these books, but this one didn't have quite the punch that most of them do. Loved the ending!

Godawful audiobook. Only reason I finished it was my husband has a much higher tolerance for crappy writing--we listen to books on long car rides to keep him awake and he wanted to hear how it ended. I'm not sure what was worse, the writing or the narration. Book was about twice as long as it needed to be (11 discs!!), set in the near future for no discernible reason, and filled with execrable "sexy talk," innuendo, and sex scenes. And the narrator only made a bad book worse--the only technique she knew to express emotions in her characters was to have them YELL THEIR LINES. Big thumbs down--will never be picking up another JD Robb book.
Nora still needs a good editor, but she can still tell a pretty damn good story.
(PS: 'aide' refers to a person who acts as an assistant. You were looking for 'aid,' which is an object that helps a person do something, e.g. hearing aids.)

Robb delivers, as always. 45 books in and she still manages to keep it fresh and interesting.
2.5/5
This was good as a part of the series, but I don't think it stands on its own. I love corporate thrillers but this had a serious loser for the killer, a potato would've added more to the story.

The case was okay...wish there was more from the vid premiere!
As I have come to expect (and value), Eve Dallas once again got her man. If you have read books from this series before, you will not be disappointed. If you have not, that's ok because you are in for a treat. This book does not try to spend all it's time trying to cover old news (aka, every storyline from the previous 35 books in the series). But, it put a fresh polish on the woman that came from a rough childhood.
As a police/detective story that solves yet another murder in NYC, I was as confused and shocked to see what one person could do to another for sex, money, and greed. So grab a beverage and relax, this book is going to grab you.

I liked it better than the last few books. Too big cases (like 80 dead people before page 20, or this whole rotten section of cops), and here this one murder, way smaller scale. Funny quips, and we go back to the Icove case again (after the book, movie shooting, the actual movie premiere), which I like.
