Bullet point review:
-Even better on the second read. The first time I was speeding across the pages at the end because I was anxious about how it was gonna play out. This time I could read slower and appreciate the action more. It still feels like it went fast and could have had a bit more buildup somehow to the rescue, though.
-Skippy is great and I love him
-I miss Sam
-The cover art really does not match my image of Meg haha
-I teared up when Jean got the jar of honey

This slow burn is burning a little too slow. I find myself less interested in the plot and we’re not making a lot of progress on the romance side. So I want to keep reading the next books but only for that part.

I'm really enjoying the world and characters that Anne Bishop has constructed. The characters, relationships, and dialogue all feel incredibly realistic. I'm not much for slow burn or romances in general, but the way that the relationship builds between Meg and Simon is so genuine and well-written.
