Gags ~ Sven

I have been waiting for Gags' book since the very first Barracuda book I read and let me tell you, he was so much more than I anticipated.

Gags agrees to spend time with Sven during the off-season to help him become more comfortable with the area they live in. A summer fling turns into more until the regular season threatens to ruin everything they built.

I knew Gags' story would be a wild ride. Both Gags and Sven have baggage from their pasts but since it's so similar, it helps bring them together. Sven is a saint and so understanding. He is the perfect match for Gags helping him grow so much as a person. There is also lots of banter and chemistry between the two.

I love that we get to see all of our other favourite Barracudas and Congressmen. This group is the definition of a found family and I hope we get more from all of them in the future, even if it's just cameos.

Gags and Sven's journey took me on a wild ride of emotions. I experienced laughter, excitement, shock, anger, heartache, tears, and eventually so much happiness my heart was overflowing.

Gags and Sven are such a lovable pair. Itโ€™s so fun to journey with these two as they find healing together. I love the hockey world that these authors have created. Itโ€™s one, frankly, which needs to exist. The depth of each of the two main characters makes their story come to life. The way their love grows, no spoilers, is natural and beautiful. The way they grow together and compliment each other is perfect. If you like queer hockey players, donโ€™t skip this one. The authenticity with which this story is written comes through on the pages. Strongly recommend.

This is my first book by these two authors and they did not disappoint. Sven and Pip (Gags) play opposite hockey teams but are currently sharing a training center. They have one encounter on the ice that turns into some bizarre connection that neither can place.
They become fast friends after meeting again at dinner with their agent and end up spending the summer together, as a sort of friends with benefits dealโ€ฆ.until itโ€™s not.
Things heat up pretty quickly between these two and they spend the summer just being together, no labels. Once the season starts back up they want to try staying together but things get rough being separated. Sven feels like heโ€™s more invested than Pip. Pip is still confused on his feelings for Sven and when Sven drops the L word Pip doesnt know what to do.
When something horrible happens to Sven, and Pip realizes he could lose him forever he really steps up to show him how much he loves him.
This book is really good. It has the spice, the friendship, love, hurt, comfort. Being willing to fight for love that you want and deserve.

Finally!!!! Iโ€™ve been waiting for Gagneโ€™s story ever since I finished Ice Devils last year.  I thought it would be a long shot, but I got my wish.

Pierre โ€œPipโ€ Gagne has a problem with putting his skate in his mouth.  When we first met him, he was the typical jock, who canโ€™t see beyond his own preconceived notions of what it means to be a man.  Watching him grow throughout the series led him to become one of my favorite characters.  He wasnโ€™t meant to live in the background, he was meant to be center ice.

Taylor & Harwood write the best meet cutes especially in this series.  What happens when 2 D-Men get into a fight on the ice?  One moment sets off a chain reaction neither is ready for.

Sven is such a pure soul.  Although he is protective of his heart, he canโ€™t help but let Pip in.  Heโ€™s scared, but he sees in Pip everything heโ€™s ever wanted.  The only problem is Sven is a bit insecure & it causes him to react yet not acknowledge.  He doesnโ€™t want to lose Pip in any way shape or form so he wonโ€™t ask for more.

Both of these characters are a bit lost.  Their friendship is forged out of proximity & necessity.  The only problem is, friendship isnโ€™t the only thing they want.  Gagโ€™s is a bit more lost than Sven.  He doesnโ€™t truly know who he is or who he wants to be.

This book is by far the most emotional of the series for me.  I thought I was prepared for what was coming, I was very wrong.

I loved this book so much, with all the details woven through the story, watching them navigate their friendship and seeing it blossom into more.

Another great story in this hockey series from Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood.
In Broken Ice, Mended Hearts we have two guys on opposite teams, who have both ended relationships/marriage in the last year because of cheating, and one is in for a bi-awakening.
Sven hasn't long moved to Washington to play for the Commanders and Gags is put forward to show him round the city, save them from both being alone over the off season. What neither is ready for is the instant attraction and chemistry that they share, especially Gags as he's identified as straight so far. Spending a lot of time together allows them to grow closer and that feels like a natural progression for their relationship however, it's not without it bumps as Gags gets used to being with a man and both have to learn to trust in the other after how their previous relationships ended. They do have a lot of laughs with each other, chirping the way hockey players do but also share a lot of the same interests which helps in doing things they enjoy together.
The story isn't without its emotional lows with life for two professional hockey players keeping them apart and, it being a newish relationship, communication is key which sometimes has to be learnt the hard way. My heart really went out to Gags with what he goes through but the group of people that he is surrounded by stood strong for him. One of my favourite things in this book is the amazing group of men that have come together through the team, new relationships and friendships, and how they are all there for each other, for comedy value, a listening ear or to egg on in the ice, it's a real found family dynamic.
A wonderful romance well told by this great author duo. You're always guaranteed with an entertaining read that may just give your heart a rush of highs and lows too.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Pierre, also know as Gags to everyone but also Pip to Sven and only Sven, is coming out of a nasty divorce. He feels a connection to Sven out of nowhere during a fight on the ice. They end up in the same city and end up spending time together. One things leads to another and next thing they both know they are exploring things with each other. and let me mention, their chemistry is HOT ๐Ÿฅต

Sven, coming out of a bad breakup, begins to explore things with Pip. Things really progress emotionally for Sven well before they do for Pip. At times I felt like Pip put Sven through some things while he was trying to figure himself out before they got more serious. They had a lot of disagreements in the beginning because they didn't know how to express their feelings and were afraid of getting hurt more than anything.

After some time and encouragement from their found family of teammates, things are finally right between them. Until they weren't. Once things hit the fan due to the major distance and time away from each other and then a terrible accident, it allowed Pip to really open up and be honest and vulnerable with Sven.

This couple was like a rollercoater, it was good, then eh it was iffy, then it was amazing, then they hit rock bottom, then it was touch and go, then it was amazing again. They definitely worked hard for their happily ever after and if anyone deserved it, it was these two.

This is book 6 in the Bethesda Barracudas Hockey series and completes the series. It winds up superbly, with all the guys together. I really loved the dynamic of these two men. It starts off complicated, Gags is straight (ish) but something happened when he met Sven's blue eyes. After spending a lot of time together, they can't resist one another. We are treated to really hot intimate scenes that didn't skimp at all. Everything is going swimmingly, until, hockey season starts and life becomes difficult. Apparently, absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it lacks intimacy and these boys are starved of it. They are delirious from missing each other and petty arguments start. It takes an almighty situation to bring them together and it is tear inducing. My heart broke for them so much. Alas, this is a romance so we know there is a happy ending and it was a beautiful ending too. A great book to round off the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
