Oh my goodness! Laughed through most of the book and cried at the end. I simply can't believe how it ended and I am anxious to read the next one.

SpoilerHow could he do such a thing!?! How could he not believe her!?! How could timid little Ivy ELOPE!?!

YELLING SO MUCH YELLING ABOUT THE END

I really like these! Madame Lefoux, Lyall, and Lord Akeldama are my faves! Now onto the 3rd!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series as a cute, different take on Victorian steampunk. I just wonder if the series became too cute too fast, or if it's just me.

The book follows after the first, and now the werewolves are in trouble. There's also a conspiracy in place that our heroine is trying to figure out. Oh, and awkward sex.

I don't know. I thought I got it, but I'm starting to wonder if I was one and done on this series. I have high standards for steampunk as is, but this really wasn't doing it for me at all. It's at least part of the reason why it took me five days to get through it.

Murder attempts, mummies, werewolves and Sidhe (she deserves her own place). It is just another day in the life of a preternatural however it is amazing to see some of the old characters from the finishing school series come back and take on a life of their own! I highly enjoyed this book with Lord Maccon being an idiot as always his wife is there to take the reigns so to speak but even with assassination attempts and french women it really does go a little awkard. I am loving this series if the assassin hadn't been so obvious I would have enjoyed it far more. Yet the multiple story arcs keep you entertained throughout! Kingsley Pack ho!

This book was just as enjoyable as its predecessor and threw in even more intriguing characters (and just intrigue in general). Pursuing the question of the existence of the preternatural versus supernatural even further in the world of Alexa, this book travels outside of London on the trail of a mystery. After this book I was saddened that the next, third, installment wasn't out yet and I can't wait to continue reading this series!

Not the most dramatic of storylines (supernatural beings temporarily turning human). Seems to be mostly about laying the groundwork for more interesting stuff that will be happening later on in the series.

This series just keeps getting better. I love the writing style and the fact that tea is the saviour of everything lol

This review was originally posted on Bookish Things & MoreI think this one may be one of my favorite in the series. We get to visit Scotland, and see a family face from the Finishing School series. We also see how Alexia interacts with her sister. And let’s just say for the record that I don’t like her sister.

The mystery about why the events are happening is fun and takes you on an adventure. We also meet Madame LaFeux. She’s an interesting character, and I love her.

Also the aethographers are new to Alexia. I love how she gets giddy over new technology. She’s definitely an odd person in the sense of the time.

Can't. Stop. Reading. I need more books from this woman! The ending was a little abrupt and I was deeply saddened that I did not bring the third book with me to work. I can't help but love the interactions between Conall and Alexia. Every single time they banter it makes me smile.

Well I won't waste any more time. Onto book 3!

After having read the first book in this series, Soulless, I was happy that this book contained more of what I was expecting when I heard that this book/series was steampunk. This book while it was enjoyable didn't seem to keep the same pace as Soulless but I enjoyed the more paranormal aspects of this book.

The addition of Madame Lefoux considering the Victorian era, her choice of dress, job and sexual preferences made an interesting dynamic to this book. As established in the first book, Alexa is not what was considered conventionally attractive for that time period however not only does she attract Conall but also to some degree Madame Lefoux.

Adding in some historical references to another culture and how it was blended in made for an interesting reading, if a it slowed down the pace some. Also learning a little more about what it means to be Soulless was a nice tidbit but I'm sure there's a whole lot more we (including Alexa) don't understand. While it wasn't as quick of a read as Soulless, it was still quite enjoyable.
