*flips off the ending of this book*

The following is a review of the third book in the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. If you haven't read the first novel, I highly recommend doing so.

It's been a while since I've written a review, and I'm feelin' a tad rusty. So Imma gonna pull out my trust list of five.

1. What I *heart* the most about the Parasol Protectorate series is Ms. Carriger's voice. She has a way of speaking to the reader that is most delightful. I feel as if I am snuggled up by a fire, a pair of fluffy socks encase my feet ever so warmly and a steaming cup of hot chocolate with a fluffy mound of whipped cream is delighting my senses, while Ms. Carriger spins her yarn. Truly, it feels as if she is right next to me, and I can see, feel, and hear it all.

2. Lady Alexia Maccon just might be my all time favorite protagonist. She is clever and brave with a healthy appetite and a nose I feel could equal my own. She does us Italians proud. And her husband, while unable to fit in my pocket and an understandable mess in this novel, has completely stolen my heart.

3. The secondary characters in this novel (both the old and new ones) are outrageously fantastic. We meet a few new bad guys, a pesky lil pup, and a bearded friend who made me giggle.

4. What of the plot? It has thickened! I am intrigued to find out what will become of Lady Maccon, her husband, and their unexpected surprise. In this the third book, we did gain answers to questions brought up in the first two, but we also dug deeper into the mystery of the soulless ones. The Templar present a most dark, mysterious, and easy to despise foe. And I'm anxious to see what happens to Lord Akeldama and Biffy. I am most definitely hooked!

5. Overall, I fervently adore this series. It was the perfect novel to ease my way back into reading after a very emotionally trying time in my life. I look forward to completing this series very soon.

Rambling review over and out!

Steampunky awesomeness with werewolves, vampires, and girl-kissing!

These books are hilarious! Exciting, fun, fast reads.

I found that I enjoyed the mystery plot and writing in this better than the first book. A fun little read, for sure!

3.5 A satisfying read, with some delightful characters, but somewhat predictable (I had inklings towards most of the outcomes- but some of that was just the Alexia being a bit naive) I do plan to read the next though.

O.O

4.5 Stars

I'm enjoying this series immensely. It's a fun historical romp with fantastic characters. Alexia is just wonderful. She's such a force to be reckoned with in the best possible way. The mystery this time around was interesting if a bit easy to solve. Still it kept the story moving and provided for some fun moments.

I enjoy the way society is structured in this story with people aware of the supernatural but there being strict lines upon which the supernatural function. Ghosts, werewolves, and vampires - great combination. I like the way the vampires and werewolves are essentially opposite sides of the power struggle.

The ending to this story is so frustrating but yet absolutely insist that you read the next book as quickly as possible.
