Alexia is back, with a new and greatly improved parasol. An unknown source has caused London's supernatural to lose their powers. Vampires and werewolves become mortal again, and ghosts are exorcised. Eventually the affliction ceased, but reports indicate that it is now affecting those to the North, appearing Scotland-bound. At the same time, Lord Woolsy has departed for Scotland to visit his former pack, whose alpha has been killed. Alexia learns the curse is moving that way and decides to follow vi dirigible, with her sister, friend Ivy, maid, her husband's valet, and an inventor friend in tow. There's some interesting commentary on Egyptian artifacts and their real role in this era. Thanks to the cliffhanger ending, I can't wait to read the next book!

The best of the series thus far!!

Even better than the first! Gail Carriger has become a FAVORITE quick, fast, and in a hurry. Once again, the chemistry between the two MCs was delicious. Loved the added layer of the Scots storyline + Egyptian details. The humor was perfectly spread about and that ending. Dear Lord. Onto number three. As in, right now. Post haste.

Ended on a sour note. Ole buddy banished ole girl because of suspected infidelity.

Another good, quick read. These books are very clever. I will be starting the next one today!

I think I liked the first one more but this was still such a fun adventure! I liked that it went into some of the lore/history in the universe in an interesting way. Can't wait to read the next one

4.5!! We follow another mistery planning above the British land, and Alexia Tarabotti, now reffered to as Lady Maccon, must satisfy the curiosity of hers and the interest of every supernatural.
This book series is so. much. fun!!! Alexia is a wonderfully witty and strong character and she makes me nod in agreement every time she puts down men in their place for not thinking enough of her. She is just a delight of a protagonist, and the books are a mix of everything one would want: mistery, humor, action, romance, supernatural... You say it, and I bet this book has it.
I loved all the characters in this book so much! Even the evil ones, hahah. It certainly has something to do with how human they are, with how easily I can understand their reasoning. Alexia is still my favorite, of course, for simply being one of those personalities I really admire, but I also really like Lord Maccon. And their interactions are even more pure gold in this book! I just love them a lot, and my only complaint about this book is how they were not together as much as I would prefer - it does happen when you have work to do and standards to keep in the eyes of society.
Also: THAT ending!! I can't wait to get started on the third volume!! I have a feeling I will enjoy it just as much, maybe even more ;)
