What an ending! I liked the story but didn't expect the twist at the end. Oooooh. So happy I have the third book ready to be read :)

It just didn't ravish me as much as the first book but I think it might pick up again. The ending suggests it :)

So you get through the first book and probably figured out how some of the relationships were going to work before you got to the end. So what do you do in a second book? GO TO SCOTLAND. Not only are there kilts, there are mummies, ugly hats, dirigibles and more snappy interactions. All the relationships get a little more depth but it doesn't lose any of the humor. Love.
adventurous funny mysterious medium-paced

These books are just so much fun. (This is volume two of the Parasol Protectorate, volume one is Soulless.) Smart, clever, sexy, imaginative, suspenseful, just great tales. Can't decide which character is my favorite.

A while back I got exposed to a subgenre of steampunk which is the beautiful and seemingly proper young Victorian woman who actually is active in all kinds of unladylike activities to save the world from war/traitors/evil in many forms. This is one of the best, mostly because of the droll sense of humor that runs through it. Just plain fun.

I really enjoyed the first book; thought it was an original and fun read. I was excited about the second book finally being available on audible.com and got it right away. Unfortunately this wasn’t quite as fun as the first book and it seemed to drag a bit (my mind kept wondering to other things while I was listening to it). I found the general plot just plain silly (and not in a good way), the characters not are not as well developed, with the exception of Madame Lefoux (hope she sticks around for future books). As for the “Cliff Hanger”-I can’t see what all of the fuss is about. First of all I had most of it figured out when Alexia was on the derrigible-so no big surprise there, and Conall’s reaction not that big of a surprise. I do like the reader of the audio versions, EmilyGray, who does a great job with all of the different voices and the narrative. Because I had already bought the audio version of Blameless (it was released on audible before Changeless) I will listen to it-but I am in no rush to get to it. Hope it is better than this second installment.

Wonderful sequel that I privately label Alexia Tarabotti's Bisexual Awakening.
I adore how queer this series is - I want to say 'subtly' but it really isn't, especially for a book with a m/f main couple. (In hindsight it's no wonder I adored this so much when I was a teen with no access to or knowledge of LGBTQ+ books).
Madam Lefoux introduction is delightful, Major Channing Channing of the Chesterfield Channings makes me crack up and I loved the continued setup for Lyall and Biffy's relationship as well as Biffy's future.
I'm also very happy that the few writing and other issues that bothered me in book1 have vastly improved and/or vanished.

Maybe a bit too sarcastic for me, but still a good book nonetheless.

Excellent installment. Interesting mystery. More Steampunk than the last one but not so much that the novice won't enjoy the story.

Well, now I'm going to have to buy book 3. Utter tosh and brilliantly so.
