Man, this book was just as amazing and good as Soulless. Yes, it was a bit different. It definitely focused on different aspects than it did in Soulless, but it was still amazing. There are a lot more steampunk aspects in this book and to be honest, I've never really liked steampunk that much. It wasn't horrible or anything like that, it was actually written very well, but I just could not get myself to care about all the technology explanations.
Something else I very much appreciated about this book was that not everything was so terribly predictable. Really, I've been able to predict almost every single plot twist in the books I've been reading last couple of months, so it was very nice to read a book where this wasn't the case. Yes, some things were a bit obvious and though I love Alexia, I can't understand how she did not find out things a little sooner. But this book was written very well and in a very interesting way, so none of this really bothered me.
Again, the characters were what I loved most. They're great and I love them. I can't stand some of them (*cough* Madame Lefoux), but I do love every single character, because they are written so well. I love the werewolves and lord Maccon is definitely my favorite character of the series.
But man. The ending. It killed me.

I enjoyed this second book in the series as much as the first one. Actually, even more, because I was already familiar with the characters, so it was just a matter of jumping right into the story. I was also a bit more intrigued by the "mystery" of this one. Still enjoyable, still a fun read. Onto the next one!

Parasol Protectorate 2
Something or someone is rehumanizing the supernatural creatures in London, even releasing the ghosts permanently from their ties to the area. Once the vampires and werewolves are out of the area, they revert to normal supernatural status. Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Woolsey, is determined to help solve the mystery, following her husband to Scotland and the home of his former pack. Lord Conall Maccon, Earl of Woolsey, is forced to reveal secrets that caused his movement to London.
Amazing entry into the series, but the ending was heartrending. I had to get the next book in the series to find out what happens next, certain things will be resolved between Alexia and Conall. I absolutely adore this series. If you like off the wall plots (and characters), humor, mystery, danger, romance, and the paranormal, you really need to get your hands on this series. READ IN ORDER!! 5 out of 5.

Great sequel/follow up to Soulless. It carries on the relationships but adds a twist that keeps the series going.
I am really loving this series.

More brilliance and Victorian steampunk delights from Ms. Carriger. There's frustrated romance, cattiness, danger on a dirigible, two fascinating and unique characters--both women--and cool steampunk technology.
A variation on the mix of elements in Soulless, but equally as entertaining and surprising.

Still hilarious, this time with dirigibles!
Excellent audiobook as well, and it's wonderful to revisit this series. Love that cliffhanger at the end.

This series is fantastic. I like it more and more with each chapter and book. This book is quite an adventure, and it ends on a cliffhanger that got a real emotional reaction from me.
