This story kind of picks up after book 1 but starts with new character povs. I’m not exactly sure where this story is going and after finishing this book, I still don’t know much. This story still includes the previous povs of book 1 but includes Veronica and Vince’s pov. Veronica is a vampire who’s mated to a werewolf. So far she’s the only character I liked. I wish there were more character development to these characters but the other girls are still weak with no improvement and the guys just want their mates. The amount of times I read “my mate” is insane like think of Ice Planet Barbarians but those books are better. The ending ends with a minor cliffhanger but I will be reading the last book to see what happens next.

*this book was sent to me by verve romance to give an honest review in return*

take a shot every time they say „mate“ or „noticeably relaxes“ and maybe this book will make sense.
i don’t even know where to start, man. no, wait, i do know where to start. he DIDN’T LET HER take birth control because she’s supposed to have his babies. what the actual fu-
devin’s not just a red flag, he’s the color red and all the flags you could dip in it (i mean his name is devin??). he talks a lot of shit about grace being his equal and then he turns around and lets others straight up bully her, he doesn’t explain anything to her and forbids her to comfort her friend because „oh, well, we’re live on tv and i don’t want people to see that you two take care of each other and are best friends, i’d rather have you sit here and talk like there are seven guns pointed at you behind the camera“ WHAT THE HELL DEVIN???
personally, i didn’t like the smut in this book very much but it just wasn’t my cup of tea, so it’s not really a critic point, but it didn’t make my reading experience any more fun.
also, veronica (queen) tells grace that there is no shame in being a bitch (the men in this book are able to hear her and are theoretically able to use their brain), and then five pages later everybody uses bitch as an insult. i thought we were making progress??? but thanks to devin, my man, who doesn’t do shit about grace being called a bitch and just lets other people use the word as an insult. again, i thought we were making progress?????????
yeah, safe to say that i hated this
my man doesn’t know anything about that girl and throws around with „i love you“s and „have my children and don’t ever use birth control because i own you and your uterus“
i’m writing this review while i’m only half way done btw, so i’m so excited

I loved how this book continued on with the first 2 couples then added in a third and continued to work on the problems with keeping the peace and the issues that came when they were picked and taken from their home and brought to the werewolf town. I like how the problems are being worked on instead of shoved behind as temporary plot filler.

I am obsessed with fated mates and paranormal romance. Fated Mates are my absolute Go To after mafia books. Once again Willow Winters hit this one out of the park. I just finished this book for a second time. Gentle Scars picked up at the end of Wounded Kiss and it continues on with our characters and introduces a new set of mates, Veronica and Vince. I am obsessed with these two and may even like them more than Dom and Lizzie. Maybe, is the key word! The spice was incredible and the plot line kept me coming back for more If you are looking to dip your toes into paranormal romance, please check this series out! Please note that you have to read Book 1 before you can read this book, and then you are going to want to preorder Book 3! :)

I love how Gentle Scars is a continuation of Wounded Kiss. I couldn't put it down and read it in two sittings. This is a great series!

Rating: 2/5
Spice: 4/5
Writing: 3.5/5
Plot: 3/5
Characters: 3/5
World-building: 1/5

- Again, where is the world building? I’m not really into Werewolf romances so I don’t know what a “latent” wolf is.
- The spice is good. The story is good. It has so much potential, it’s just not there.
- I’m finding it difficult to keep track of all 7 POVs.
