Over-simplified summary: Girl and boy meet and have a connection that heats up faster than my microwavable Ramen noodles. The problem? Boy is girl's best friend's brother. The very same brother she *swore* she wouldn't fall for. Instead of sharing this secret with her best friend, she lets it continue to heat up until, like the over-cooked Ramen metaphor we've already established, it explodes in the microwave, leaving nothing but a mess and the residue of regret.

Over-dramatic review: It feels like if she was really best friends with the friend, she'd be able to talk to her openly and honestly about what happened? Isn't that how best friends work? I don't know. I had a hard time with the entire conflict of the story because I just wanted them to stop talking about being best friends and actually *be* the kind of best friends who don't always have to share what the other wants to hear.

Also, this was too open-door romance for me. Several times I audibly said 'ew' at some of the parts. I didn't realize that going into the book, which is on me for going in blind to the book, so I don't get to complain too much about that part.
fast-paced

This was my favorite of her three so far. This was sweet, wholesome, and it made me want to visit PEI. And to read Anne of Green Gables. I definitely cried - no shame.

This little gem of a romance makes me want to go back to the overly dressy version of myself while also running away to Prince Edward Island to find my own hunky, oyster shucking man. I’m not normally a huge fan of a best friend’s brother if he’s younger, but this one worked so well. You could feel them both still needing to grow up and how they somehow manage to do it together— while having hot sex once a year. I think Carley Fortune is becoming an auto-buy author for me.

3 stars meh

Loved this book so much I almost forgave Carley Fortune for the plot twist in Every Summer After
