Blake, I need you to stop being so damn trusting of everyone. Raise your hand if you think that Cleo is a lying liar 🙋‍♀️

Besides the world's worst plot twist, at the end of this, it was fine. You can definitely tell that it's Huang's debut novel as it isn't written to the perfection that we'd expect nowadays from her. Honestly, for much of the time, it read like a first draft. There were time jumps, scenes that flowed terribly, and chemistry that was great one second and nonexistent in the next.

Also, what was Farrah's obsession with her virtue. If I had to listen to her talk about how difficult it is nowadays "to give it away," I was going to disconnect my headphones from the damn audiobook and never return. And Blake's family was nonsensical to an unbelievable extent. His parents were so angry that he gave up football for his health???? Like, HELLOO?!?! And Cleo is apparently his soulmate because they grew up as besties and dated for a year. Be so fucking forreal.

Blake and Farrah had potential, unfortunately the beginning of their story wasn't done to it's full potential.

I just finished listening to the audiobook. The experience was the same as Farrah & Blake's affair if you've read the book.  I was waiting & waiting for something good to happen, & the book just ended without anything. While I understand it's just a way to make us read the second book, i just don't understand why I had to go through that unnecessary drama.
First of all, I didn't like their affair at first. The way it started, how they saw & thought about each other was not my best interest. But it's nice how Farrah would inspire & support Blake's dreams. That supportive & cheering might be the only thing I liked about them. I maybe liked the friend group more than the main couple.
And then the plot happened. That was the worst plot ever. I thought it was just a fever dream & they'll wake up from it, but they didn't. It just ended up with the worst trope ever. So yeah. This was a no no for me.

i’ve been waiting to read this for a long time and i’m so happy i finally have! i really enjoyed this, even though my preferred genre is dark romance lol. i have soooo many questions, which i’m assuming will be answered in the next book that i am about to start as soon as i submit this review.
my most pressing questions involve what really happened the night of new year’s eve with blake and cleo. i don’t think blake is in the wrong, but my guess as to what happened could be off.
