I'm not sure what new things I can say compared to book 1 other than that this was a continuation of the story. It's such a good mix of plot vs smut. Elise is such a tease for those poor guys so the sexual tension is off-the-charts!

I like the mystery still surrounding her brother that is slowly unfolding with chapters from his POV leading up to his death. I also like the larger mystery that she's finding. We know Gareth was involved in something, but we don't know HOW big it truly is and we also know the guys were involved somehow too. So the strings are starting to untangle and get bigger at the same time.

My one real complaint is sometimes Elise's moods and the mystery are not as seamless with the rest of the story as I'd like. Sometimes it's a little jarring when you go from a steamy scene to suddenly a Gareth POV or Elise doing some investigating. Or when Elise is in a playful mood with one of the guys and next chapter she's in mystery solving mode. It could be also a factor in all the POV chapters too...It kind of breaks things up since no one has back-to-back chapters.

Overall, though, I enjoyed the book. It's a good balance between everything where I don't feel like it's just smut or just plot and I think the mystery is what really keeps the plot fresh as it's slowllllyyyy unfolding. If it was a "save the world" plot, it might have gotten old by now, but I'm still very invested in the ALL the stories.

The guys all continue to be different and good in their own ways. Gabriel has some of the least amount of time in this book, but there's a reason for that based on his request. Dante and Ryder have some touching moments with Elise as she tries to get them to realize their feud could end with them. I adore Dante a lot (especially that club scene *fans face*), but you can't dismiss Dante because he's clearly got a heart of gold underneath all that pain. Leon is the "easy" one of the 4 and he's the "sunshine" in the group, but I liked learning more about him and his family. None of these guys (nor Elise) are without pain or a bad upbringing in one way or another, but none of them are so far damaged that you can't see the heart of them. Leon's whole lion and lioness thing cracks me up. I have to say that I definitely chuckle a lot through the book with the guys. It's refreshing having an academic series not be a bully romance! Those 4 guys definitely chase her and she holds her own when there are potential bully issues from others.

Enjoyed this second book and looking forward to the rest.

So this book was good but the first book was better. I only am giving this 4 stars because of the ending mainly. Otherwise it would be a 3.5 for me. I'm not massively a fan of Leon. He's pretty boring and kind of lame. Then there's Ryder and he's just all about pain and lost and it's just like give it a break, get over the fact that you like Elise already. I like Dante a lot but I liked him before coming into reading this series because I've been introduced to his character through Zodiac Academy and like his character from there. Despite being a gang leader he's pretty cool and he can enjoy things despite his life and having to deal with a lot of death all the time. Then there is Gabriel, I already love Gabriel from Zodiac Academy

4.5⭐️

This series is immaculate. In this one, we see all of the characters developing a lot more and their chemistry becoming more prevalent. I loved deep diving in to these characters povs and finding out more about them and seeing the boys chemistry with Elise.

The plot twists were insane! Miss Nightshade was def shady, pun intended, but I didn’t realize how shady. I don’t trust Titan, idk what it is, but I don’t like him yet. Felix was obvious though, but I think that was the point and I do love that in the end Ryder would not be used by him and told Dante about his “deal”.

So yeah, this series is insane and I cannot wait to begin the next book!

Things are getting spicy lol. Overall, it was nice to see the Kings all let their guards down a little and you can see genuine connections forming between Elise and all of them. The reverse harem is starting to reverse harem, which is interesting. The plot is mid, but we aren’t really reading for the plot, are we?
