This was totally awesome!!! All I can really say is "Cyborg Cinderella" and you instantly know how awesome it is. The setting reminded me a lot of Bladerunner, the fairy tale elements are so well integrated (and turned on their heads), the characters are excellent, and the world-building is excellent. The ending had me literally jumping up and down with glee. I cannot *wait* for the sequel.

I wanted a little bit more of Kai and Cinder relationship as we didn't really get anything until the last 40 pages. I still enjoy this book it was fast paced and the Queen in this was a real villain which I loved. 4.5 stars

So great!

This is the second time I’ve read this book, and I very glad I decided to reread it. I’ve been in a really bad reading slump and this pulled me out of it almost instantly. I finished the book in a day, both times.

Cinder is a relatable, instantly likable character and so is Kai.
Cinder is very smart, cunning, and determined. She always makes the best out of her situation despite her sarcastic attitude, which also just adds to everything.
Kai is also very smart, but he is more book-smart whereas Cinder is more street-smart. He’s also very compassionate and understanding.
I love their dynamic and can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses throughout the books.

As for the plot, it’s the perfect mix of cliches and favorite tropes with exciting and creative newness.

This is one of my favorite series, I love all of the strong, dynamic characters and the incredibly compelling story.
I just wish I could read it for the first time again, so I could capture the same magic and suspense.
