I honestly have no clue why I'm giving this book 5 stars.
5 star means you absolutely loved it, which I did. 5 star means you would recommend this book to everyone that you know. Which I would, and I do.
The problem is that I can't put my finger on why I loved it so much.
I guess I'm just a complicated girl.
Let me begin by saying that the book description does not give the story justice. To sum it up, this book is about a serial killer who meets another serial killer. They and their relationship evolve.
I'm doing a reading challenge this year that I'm trying to read indies from the BOH (FB group) list.
If I had ever read the book description, I would have definitely passed on this book. It reads like a jumbled mess and too much information dumped at once. (my personal opinion).
For some reason, I'm fascinated with non-feeling characters trying to hide their psychopathic personality.
It's written in a very direct manner. There's no flowery prose trying to embellish details. The writer tells you, and that's that. Why did I enjoy it so much then? Many scenes were spent with the author basically telling you daily mundane activities. (EX- he got in his car and drove: he showered; etc)
I'm even left with many questions. A character hinted about she had a reason why she was drawn to her new lover, but I don't feel like that was fully explained, only vaguely. There are a few other minor things that I don't feel were truly resolved.
BUT I LOVED THIS STORY. I don't know why, but I stayed up too late, not sleeping, turning pages, until it was finished.
So yeah, there's that. I'm giving this book 5 stars because I enjoyed it so much. It's not extreme, that I usually love. The violence is mild. It was interesting and that's all I can tell ya.
Note to self. Google houndstooth jacket. I have no clue what that is but was mentioned many times.
