Really enjoyed this book and especially liked the mostly low-stakes and low-drama of it all since poor Meegan has had nothing but drama in all of the other books she's been a secondary character in. Olin is absolutely perfect for her, and I am so glad she got her happy ending. My only gripe is that the ending felt a tad rushed.
Meegan decides she doesn't need to go to The Club anymore, but in the epilogue that abruptly changed? I don't have a problem with her changing her mind, but it just felt weird for her growth to mean that she didn't want/need The Club anymore and then change that to her growth meant having a healthy relationship with The Club. That's a big step to me and I would have liked to see that happen.
It didn't ruin the book, but I knocked off 1/2 a star for that.

very bdsm heavy but I’m very glad there was no third act break up. Olin was down horrendously from jump

Every marginalized group is entitled to wish fulfillment romance, and the queer and kink rep, diverse cast, and cozy vibes were great, as usual from Rebekah Weatherspoon. It's just that every time I read about a tech millionaire / billionaire, Elon Musk pops up in my imagination, and I feel kinda queasy, so that really harshed my vibe with this story. YMMV

The care that Rebekah shows to the kink community as a whole is something that should never be understated. I freaking loved Meegan and it was so good to explore their vastly different backgrounds and how they always cared for each other at the end of it all. I’ll always be a Rebekah Stan.

It took a minute to get used to the spelling of the character and to change the pronounciation in my head. While both characters are white, Olin's neurodiversity makes the story interesting. Included are a cast of supporting characters who are a giant multiculturally diverse group.

The fake date trope is used here, but instalove is a bit more how the book rolls. Not that the characters would admit that. Why are these two beautiful people still single? Well, Meegan has some proclivities that are non-negotiable. These have kept her single, up until this point. Olin, is the billionaire wunderkind who has kept his nose to the grindstone. He has had no interest in dating, until one too many would be matchmakers asked if he was gay.

Meegan and Olin's friend Xeni set them up for a fake date. Meegan took his extreme wealth in stride, especially since this was to be a fake relationship. This story does not have a crisis, per se. There is too much to learn about one another to add a crisis on top of the story to make it a more conventional romance. Olin grows during the story so much. One cannot help but fall in love with him. Weatherspoon is comfortable writing about BDSM elements. In this book, she kept it pretty focused on the BD, not the SM, in community. And it is a community. There is a fairly large overlap of friends, and I love how they interact. I don't want to give too much away, but I, so, want these two to succeed.

My goal for 2024 is to read as many romances by BIPOC authors possible. If I go back and read any given book as soon as I'm finished, it's an automatic 5.0 for a BIPOC author. I'll knock off .25 for lack of diversity. I'll often read some books two or three times in a matter of days. This does not show up on StoryGraph(my favorite, BTW), or GoodReads. Still, I love to read backwards-to see again how the author structures the story and the chosen elements that make a novel fresh

Rebekah Weatherspoon is an automatic buy/read. 5.0

Y’all. Y’ALL. This book was so hot it burned me. I am scorched, dehydrated, possibly suffering heat stroke because hot. damn.

I loved Rafe and Xeni so I was super excited to see Meegan announced! Weatherspoon’s contemporaries are so fun (I have so much of her backlist to read!) and full of real people being loved really, really well.

Meegan is no exception. Olin and Meegan are so sweet together and the communication in their relationship is heavy handed (in a good way! Also I think this could be a sexy pun?). Meegan has learned to communicate her needs clearly after years of being deep in a kink community and Olin is a blunt and straightforward communicator due to understanding his own needs as a person with autism. I loved reading Olin ask for clarification. I loved the earnest way he considered the things Meegan asked for and whether or not they fit into his own boundaries. I loved the way Meegan held space for Olin’s boundaries especially when they differed from her own. I also adored the way they validated and supported each other. It was just so open and respectful and sweet.

Speaking of hot. Out of the Loose Ends series (Rafe and Xeni), this book is significantly more kink heavy. And by more kink, I mean it is chapter after chapter of two sweet and loving people being kinky as hell! Weatherspoon does not hold back and I found myself learning quite a bit alongside Olin.

Overall this was cozy, sweet, low drama (no third act break-up, Weatherspoon does not mess around), and incredibly hot.

If you enjoyed Rafe and Xeni and her other series like Beards and Bondage or the Fit series, then I think you’ll love this!
