After being released from prison after being convicted of a crime Nick Navarro didn't commit, the woman he's always had a thing for, Sasha Porter, shows up on his door step needing help. Sasha is the widow of his childhood friend and is being haunted by the same man that killed her husband, Mike, and put him in prison. She is desperate to keep her young daughter safe and even agrees to a deal with Nick. However, both of them want to leave their heart out of the deal, only Nick has been in love with her since the moment he met her. They both set out to entrap the politician behind everything, only their hearts and the help of friends can get them out danger.

Nick and Sasha's story started out a little different, but with everything going on and watching them fall for each other I really enjoyed the story. When I read novellas, by the time I get into the story, it's over and to me that's off-putting, but this one was different. I felt like I got a full story and it was very well written. Nick has a big heart, he tried to come off as cold to respect his friend's memory, but he eventually told Sasha how he has always felt and it makes you love Nick that much more. It's a great love story and one that I highly recommend.

I received this story in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Nick. He tried so hard to be a prick but his heart fought him at every turn. Sasha has had to struggle to survive, literally, since the death of her husband. And when Nick is finally available to help her she has to look beyond her perceptions to see the real man. But Ms. Black made the journey they both had to make both fulfilling and action packed. Sasha has had to protect her daughter but she shares an enemy with Nick. Convincing Nick to help her is the easy part, dealing with the consequence not so much. But I loved how Ms. Black redeemed Nick. You started out thinking he was a prick to the nth degree but by tales end you realized he used his attitude to protect his gooey center. I loved seeing his friends and Sasha peel back those layers. And Sasha also came into her own. She was way too innocent or maybe naive is a better word but she had a strength that surprised both her and Nick. This story may have been a quick read but it was packed with emotion. I loved the journey Nick and Sasha took as they learned to trust themselves and each other. This story is well written and full of action. It is well worth your time.

Short and to the point.

Dirty Wicked was one hot ass novella. In it, you will meet Nick who is an ex P.I. and he's recently become a free man. Then there's Sasha Porter, who apparently set him up to take the fall for a crime he never committed. Or so we are made to believe... dun dun dun!

Now these two were like oil and water (or whatever). Yes, they had sparks and chemistry but they also didn't trust one another. Things were definitely explosive and hot between them as well - which I loved so freaking much. Besides the romance, this book had endless twists and turns throughout it. Definitely one of more entertaining novellas that I've read in a long time. Might even dive into the Wicked Lovers series now.

Shayla Black has done it again. Nick and Sasha have incredible chemistry. I fell in love with Nick in the opening pages. The intrigue and sexual encounters are so well written you cannot put the book down. I have always loved the romance and relationship connections that Shayla puts in her books but this one went off the charts. This is a MUST read even if you have never read any others in the series.

Great little short story and we got to see some of our old favorite characters that was a nice surprise.

Sasha and Nick oh lala, explosive once she realizes he isn’t what she thinks he is.

I do like how protective she is of her daughter that made me like her how she questioned the people staying with her child.

Great narration cause hello Christian Fox is delicious.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Dirty Wicked is Novella in the Wicked Ties Series by the amazing Shayla Black.
Ex P.I Nick Navarro is fresh out of prison and looking to exact his revenge on the man who put him there. He knows there is only one person who can help and just as he's piecing together how to locate her she drops in on his doorstep. If only he could focus on the case and not how much he wants to touch her.
Sasha Porter is out of options and out of time. The man who killed her husband and is threatening her daughter is getting closer. She's only got one hope. Her husbands childhood friend Nick Navarro. Fresh out of prison from a rape conviction Sasha doesn't trust him but she needs him. And as they grow closer she wants him.
How long will they be able to fight the attraction while fighting for their lives?
This book was short but so full of juicy bits I didn't want to put it down. The first thing that touched me about this book was the relationship between Sasha and Harper. The love she had for her child was palpable. It brought tears to my eyes on several points. When Sasha puts her entire pride to the side and does everything she can to protect her daughter including offering up her body it was almost too much for me. (It was nice to glimpse the Santiago clan with their latest addition Dulce) The relationship with Nick and Sasha was interesting to watch unfold with both of them fighting their attraction while still needing what the other can provide. The heat between them made reading this book delicious. Shayla Black knows how to write a steamy scene. Without giving too much away I will say this book is definitely worth the read and you will not be disappointed. Absolutely 5 Stars

Only my second series book so far (both 1001 Dark Nights novellas--probably not a coincidence), and though three characters from a previous novel do play a role (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13156787-ours-to-love) the focus is really on Sasha and Nick here so you're fine reading it as a standalone.

Dirty Wicked, being a novella, has a pretty short timeframe for the characters to both fall in love and resolve the dangerous issue that's brought them together in the first place. For the most part it works--Nick and Sasha met before (once) and he's had a thing for her ever since even though she was married to one of his best friends. She does go from "OMG, what have I gotten myself into with this guy, he's an ex-con" to "I'm in love" pretty quickly, but overall there's a decent balance here between resolving the suspense plot and building up the romance, so it's not too far out there. Nick is a much more sympathetic character than he seems to be at first, and hey, my widow-storyline pet peeve/total copout isn't used here (yay!), so that was a definite plus.

One of these days I'll read a full-length novel from this series! :)
