Wow.

Lovely words that go nowhere. When I reached the end it felt unfinished, like it stopped in the middle of an idea.

solid book, beautifully written and tackles discussions faced by a girl in brooklyn from girlhood to adulthood. it’s a story about the common and there’s part of the story that bores semblances to poetry— as someone who doesn’t understand poetry those parts were somewhat lost on me. however it was beautifully crafted so i did not mind.

Beautifully written, quick read about the main character’s childhood experiences growing up in Brooklyn, NY.

Interesting novel, a glimpse into the lives of four teenagers in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Having taught HS in that neighborhood, I couldn't help but look for glimpses of my past students, and also wonder what their lives were truly like when not at school.

A gorgeous book about growing up and dealing with grief. I listened to this as an audiobook which highlighted the lyrical writing.

Well written short novel. Subject matter was heavy. The childlike narration in contrast to the heaviness worked well.

This was such a gorgeous book! I absolutely loved the lyrical prose style. The plot is really secondary to the setting and the characters, their words and descriptions.
It was a very short book that could be read in one sitting but I wanted to enjoy every word and I read just few pages at a time.

The gentle mind frame of the narrator takes you on a journey that will push you beyond comfort. The strong importance of memories is a constant battle of living in the moment and pushing to get out of the moment. This novel is not something I would normally choose but was eye opening to experiences I will never understand.
